“We want to be the fence at the top of the cliff, not the ambulance at the bottom” – that’s our motto. Streetworx recognizes the power of a turning point in young people’s lives – one more chance, one positive experience, one working relationship are enough to turn a young person’s life around. Streetworx brings love to places that rarely see it, to people who are not used to it. Research in the area of resilience has clearly revealed that children with as much as one stable relationship are more likely to overcome their circumstances and reach their potential in life. We at Streetworx believe in the power of love and we help young people to build stable and lasting relationships.

Streetworx targets youth who are at-risk or disadvantaged due to social, cultural, language or economic barriers aged between 12 and 18 years with preventive programs. Our goal is to reach young people before they experience a complete relationship breakdown in their families and communities, before they are disconnected from traditional education or training such as school or TAFE, before they are involved with the criminal justice system and before they are affected by substance use. We believe it’s better to turn around as long as we can than to pick up the pieces.

Some of our youth involved with Streetworx programs have already experienced abuse, violence or drugs. And it will take time and dedication for them to heal, forgive and have a fresh start. The families of these young people are in crisis and they need assistance – Streetworx brings that assistance through early intervention. All the young people targeted are at crossroads of their life; Streetworx wants to empower them to take the right direction.

Streetworx’s programs focus on sports activities for the youth. The primary goal is to enable young people to have fun and enjoy. At-risk kids often loose their ability to relate, to laugh and to enjoy fun activities. We provide a protected and positive environment that enables the youth to release and overcome challenging behaviour and to learn and build capacity for relationship and enjoyment. Young people feel safe, cared for and loved.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
